Hand Drum Activities for Grades 1-8 books by Chris Judah-Lauder.
- Hand Drums on the the Move (7090)
Most pieces include words so everyone can participate regardless of how many drums you have. Other percussion used are shakers, cowbells, finger cymbals, rhythm sticks, etc., plus bean bags and tennis balls. Sequential teaching emphasizes musical form (unison, canon, binary, ternary, rondo), expressive dynamics, and good playing technique. Kids will enjoy choreographing their own classroom or public performances.
- To Drum (7085)
Several pieces include cooperative learning activities. All include extensive lesson plans with objectives, procedures, and extension possibilities as well as full scores with suggested visuals. Grade levels are suggested but you are encouraged to modify the pieces for your needs. Movement is encouraged to add excitement and complement the drumming.
