A Musical Play by Michael & Jill Gallina

Aesop's unforgettable fables stimulate our imaginations and dramatize the many lessons and values that we can learn from stories and tales. Five familiar fables in drama and song. Teach the wise sayings and literature with creative costuming and staging.

Do all 5 or select a few:

  • Look Before You Leap features a group of frogs (masks, hats, puppets).
  • Don't Put Off Until Tomorrow uses ants and a grasshopper (mask).
  • Don't Count Yer Chickens features milkmaid and chorus.
  • Slow and Steady tells the tale of the tortoise and the hare with several other creatures joining in.
  • Honesty's the Best Policy requires a shepherd boy, sheep, villagers and a wolf.

Through smart, fun-to-perform dialogue and rock'n'roll styled music, Aesop's entertaining stories afford ample opportunity to provide students with examples of behaviors and attitudes that can contribute to a meaningful character education program. So much fun and so much to learn, too!

All these are set off by a Greek chorus (togas, headpieces) and narrators. With no role doubling, there are 43 speaking parts.

All the songs are written in 2 parts. If you perform all five plus the introduction and conclusion, it's 55 min. 64 pp.  Perfect for upper elementary grades and suitable for middle school.
